Bielersee Rebenweg

Biel/Bienne–La Neuveville

Enlarged map

Photo gallery
The northern shores of the Bielersee (Lake Biel) are cultivated to a high degree with vines. The hike along the attractive vineyard path from Biel to La Neuveville grants a comprehensive view of the work of the local vintners.
The promising tour commences not even two kilometres outside of Biel. And the first obligatory photo stop follows just a few hundred meters down the road. A stunning picture, naturally including the St Petersinsel, spreads before your eyes – and the deep blue lake accompanies you all along the way.

By Twann the second irresistible photo waits to be captured.
Picturesque, winding streets donate a homely atmosphere – and it’s no different in Ligerz, where with the famous church, undoubtedly the most popular photo stop has been reached. Between Twann and Ligerz a wine learning path is also open to visitors, offering interesting information, especially about wine growing by the lake.

The tour ends in historic La Neuveville - Neuenstadt according to Berne’s native German speakers. Beautiful sights in the enchanting old town invite one to linger - and the lakeside promenade is one of the loveliest on Lake Biel.

Signalization

From Biel railway station, follow the signs Standseilbahn Magglingen. A short distance west, the zigzag stair-climb begins to "Pavilion". At Pavilion follow the signs "Rebenweg" and "La Neuveville". By Chrosweg above Twann, continue direction La Neuveville - and by the Ligerz church, hike towards the village. In Ligerz, again follow the hiking path to La Neuveville and in La Neuveville, follow the path in the direction of the station. Train runs regularly from La Neuveville to Biel – and in the summer months there is also a boat service from La Neuveville to Biel.
Hint

The part between Vingelz and La Neuveville is asphalted - and therefore ideal for wheelchairs or families with prams.
